TSF extends Niger project based on Vizada services
Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF), the leading humanitarian NGO specialised in emergency telecommunications, is relying on Vizada services to extend its Early Warning System project to combat famine in Niger.

Vizada provides TSF with a range of satellite terminals enabling decision makers in the capital Niamey to receive information in real-time on cereal and livestock markets, variations in stock of subsistence crops and development of sanitary & nutritional situations.
Funded by the European Commission Humanitarian Office (ECHO), this system was first installed in 12 pilot regions in June 2006, and by July 2008 will be widened to 37 regions to protect a potential 14 million Niger inhabitants.
Niger is second to last in terms of human development on the list established by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The living conditions in the Sahel desert are extremely harsh and recurrent drought leads to almost permanent food insecurity.
Thanks to the success of the system, and funding by the ECHO, a similar project is being studied to extend the SAP to Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania and Senegal.
