CNN & partner Vizada win award for digital newsgathering project

CNN, partnered with Vizada, has won two innovation awards at the IBC2007 exhibition, dedicated to creation, management and delivery of content for the entertainment industry.

The CNN team won the IBC Innovation Award (Content Creation category) as well as the IBC Judge’s award for innovation for coverage of the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict in July 2006, using the BGAN technology and service.

Vizada provides CNN the BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) mobile satellite service, enabling reporters to benefit from IP streaming at up to 256 kbps for live video and standard IP over a shared 492 kbps channel for store and forward video.

Several CNN journalists were able to report live through BGAN from locations all over the conflict zone and other key sites in the Middle East as events unfolded.
