CNN, partnered with Vizada, has been awarded a Technology & Engineering Emmy® by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at a ceremony held on January 7 in Las Vegas.

The award recognizes CNN’s innovation for the coverage of the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict in July 2006, using Vizada service and BGAN (link to section in website) technology.

Multiple CNN journalists were able to report live through BGAN from locations all over the conflict zone and other key sites in the Middle East as events unfolded. BGAN enabled them to bring viewers to the heart of the conflict, and this from a number of different angles.

"Vizada plays a critical role in providing the mobile satellite service used to broadcast breaking news from anywhere in the world," said Bob Baker, COO and president, Vizada Americas.  "We're pleased to be recognized with CNN for this prestigious Emmy award."

Vizada, the world’s leading provider of satellite communications solutions, works closely with partners L-3 Global Communications Solutions (GCS) and Galaxy 1 Communications on this digital newsgathering project.
