As the leading independent provider of global satellite communications, Vizada receives sponsorship requests from a wide variety of individuals and organizations around the world.  We partner with global and government agencies, non-governmental organizations and industry to provide satellite communications in support of emergency relief missions and outreach programs around the world.

Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF), the leading international non-governmental organization specialized in emergency telecommunications, has relied on Vizada’s mobile satellite services since its foundation in 1998.

Vizada’s service – providing voice and data connectivity via satellite - forms an integral part of TSF’s telecoms centers. Following an incident, these centers enable local populations to communicate with relatives, otherwise unable to learn of their family’s safety, status or location. They also play an important role in facilitating the work of local authorities and aid agencies deployed to the stricken area.

Vizada offers the NGO communications airtime and mobile satellite equipment (notably Inmarsat services including BGAN). It also provides hands-on account management, 24/7 customer care for all services and solutions, and more than ten years’ experience catering for the needs of the NGO community.

In 2010, a particularly challenging year for humanitarian relief centers, TSF was supported by Vizada on ten separate occasions.  Missions ranged from supporting telecommunication assessment after the February earthquake in Chile, to opening a humanitarian call center for flood victims in Pakistan in August. Most recently, a TSF team was deployed to Tokyo to determine an action plan following the earthquake and tsunami damage in Japan. Free international phone calls and other communications support was also provided for refugees fleeing the conflicts in Libya in March 2011.

In addition to the emergency telecoms centers, TSF manages a number of longer-term projects, for example in setting up telecoms systems in refugee camps, or supporting government crisis prevention systems. For these projects, Vizada’s mobile satellite services often serve as a rapid-deployment solution before permanent, fixed satellite terminals are installed, or as vital back-up once these systems are finally in place.
